To affirm or not to affirm? Do you know that affirmations are a great way to rewrite and counteract negative messages that can sometimes invade the mind? What you focus on grows. What you think and say has the power to transform your life. Whatever follows the statement “I AM” also follows you! When used correctly and consistently, affirmative statements can empower you and create more possibilities in your life. Here are seven creative ways to use affirmations in your everyday life.
Prepare Your Heart and Mind to Welcome the Good
1. Find a comfortable, quiet place, and take five deep cleansing breaths.
2. Set your intention for the day. Today, my intention is ____________.
3. Select an affirmation or write your own.
Focus on your affirmation (For example I AM POWERFUL.) Reflect on ways you are powerful? What does power mean to you? How do you use your power? Are you standing in your power with purpose? Are those around you better because of how you show up? Challenge and confront any negative thoughts that may come your way. Replace negative thoughts with positive and loving words.
Take “Power Breaks” throughout the day. Speak your affirmation out loud at least five times a day. If you can, speak your declarations in front of a mirror or record your voice, this is more impactful.
Use a journal to capture your thoughts. Write 2-3 specific action steps that you can align with your I AM Powerful affirmation. What Power moves can you make this week to move closer to your dreams or desires? What Powerful words can you declare over your life? What personal goals can connect with your affirmation?
Align your affirmation with scriptures and positive quotes. Use them to guide your words, thoughts, and actions. Write, text, and post your scriptures/quotes where you can refer to them frequently throughout the day.
Create something amazing! Make your very own affirmation art, mantras, playlists, personal video, decorate a mirror with affirmation stickers, create a word collage in a journal, personalize cupcakes, and more.
Don’t go it alone. Connect with friends and family to share your experiences. Fundamental questions to ask yourself: what did you learn or notice about your words and thoughts throughout the day/week? What manifested in your life? Did you encourage someone else along the journey?
Keep a gratitude list in your journal. Set aside some time at the end of each day/week to give thanks for your experiences. A heart of gratitude is an excellent source of strength and encouragement.
I hope that several of these strategies resonated with you. Share your thoughts and triumphs with me.
